Credit by Exam Steps for
ITE 115 (formerly IST 114)
Step 1:
Go to the Houff Student Center and ask to see a counselor in
order to receive the BRCC credit by exam form and an explanation for
filling out the form. You must have a VCCS
email account to apply and include
your VCCS email account on the form. If you have
questions regarding what will be covered or need notes in order to prepare for
Part I – Concepts in Computer Information Systems – or Part II - Office 2007.
Review the content listed on the test out
competencies page.
Step 2:
Complete the form and return to the Houff Student Center.
A counselor will review your statement of justification – be sure it
is complete and that you have given a thorough justification as to why you can
demonstrate competency in this course. Once
the Counselor has reviewed the form, they will forward the form to the
division dean and appropriate faculty member for approval.
Step 3:
The appropriate faculty member will review all applications prior to the
test date. Once your application has been
approved you will receive an email by the faculty member to schedule the test.
Step 4:
The test is in electronic format. You will be given one hour to complete
each section. Students’ scores on
the Concepts test will be posted immediately upon completion of the test. After the completion of
the competency test
and reviewing your score with the faculty member, go to the BRCC Bookstore and purchase the
Myitlab Assessment Software (ask someone working at
the register for this product).
Bring a photo ID with you on the day of the exam.
When this portion is completed, the appropriate faculty member will
discuss your results with you.
**An average score of 85%
or above is necessary to fully test out of ITE 115.
**
*NOTE: There
are no options for a re-test. Students who have previously enrolled in ITE
115 (or IST 114), either at BRCC or another college, and received a grade including a
"W" are not eligible to take the exam. |
