Here you will find a collection of old genetics problems. Most pertain to what you're learning in this unit. At the bottom of the page is a link that will take you to the answers.

What is a Dominant Gene? Intermediate Inheritance

Mendel's "Luck." Do you see what Dr. Wolfe's talking about?

Define intermediate inheritance.

Carefully follow his example. I recommend using his genotype (i.e. the superscripts) but you can use anything system you like when it comes time for solving problems on your next test.

I won't make you distinguish between "blending" and codominance. Just make sure you're familiar with this whole intermediate inheritance concept and that you will be able to work through genetics problems involving this type of inheritance as well as the regular Mendelian dominance/recessive type.

Codominance and Multiple Alleles: ABO Blood Genes

What antigen would someone have on in their red blood cell membrane if they have the following blood type:

  • blood type A = antigen _____
  • blood type B = antigen _____
  • blood type AB = antigen _____ & antigen _____
  • blood type O = antigen _____

Carefully listen to this lecture. You need this knowledge when you work blood type questions on your next test.

ABO Blood Groups: Inheritance Patterns and Pedigree Charts

A circle stands for _____
A square stands for _____

You guessed it! You will need to solve paternity problems based on blood types on your next test. Click on the assigned link (Virtual Professor's Genetics Problems) for practice.
