New Announcements:

December 16, 2003 - Your final grades have been posted! Go to the grade page and follow the instructions.

November 2, 2003 - Couple of announcements:

  • The DNA movie isn't in the learning resource center yet... it should be any day and I'll announce its arrival as soon as it happens.
  • Your extra credit opportunities (mulching or reading) are up and running. Click here for details or follow the link from the Cyberbiology main page.
  • I've worked the Hemoglobin Investigation every which way and I'm still not satisfied with it. It's a bust. It's FYI. You will not be tested on the Hemoglobin investigation (scheduled later this semester).

October 26, 2003 - Change of plans! You may use your notes and graphs on your photosynthesis quiz (10/27 - 11/4/).

October 18, 2003 - Grades! I've calculated your grades up to, and including, today's midterm. Click here (grade page) to find instructions on how to access your grade. I'm totally exhausted. I'm going home to get some sleep. I'll post some more announcements in a couple of days. Don't forget to take your microscopy quiz before October 24.

October 17, 2003 - Had to leave town unexpectedly (Friday morning). Should be back late tonight or early Saturday. Naturally, our cybersaturday lab is still on. Not a bad idea to check this announcement page again before heading off to campus Saturday morning. See you Saturday at 9:00 AM in room J105 (J Building) :-)

October 11, 2003 - Out of the office Monday (October 13).

October 9, 2003 - Did a little tweeking to our cybersaturday page (see schedule, link on October 18). Go ahead and print and begin to make yourself knowledgeable about those topics. I'll probably have additional materials available for you in lab that morning.

September 25, 2003 - Quick announcement. I'm making an unscheduled visit to Lynchburg tomorrow at noon. Not sure what time I'll return to campus in the afternoon. I'll respond to e-mails later in the afternoon/early evening.

September 22, 2003 - I'm back! Wasn't able to communicate from San Antonio (hotel was a little dysfunctional with respect to Internet access. Judging by some of your e-mails, it appears I missed a hurricane last week. I've returned all of the e-mails and BlackBoard postings. If I missed yours, or if your e-mail disappeared, please re-send. I have the following announcements to make:

  • Hurricane delay - Do to power outages and other strange events I have extended the Evolution Test and Natural History Investigation BlackBoard assessments until midnight, September 25, 2003. Those that attempted and were blocked out (because of a message stating you had already taken the assessment) should be able to take it now.
  • Where you should be - You should be learning about enzymes (with Dr. Wolfe) and preparing to take your Enzyme Quiz and your second test (see schedule for dates).
  • About that on-line Enzyme lab - These on-line activities will not only test your knowledge of the subject matter but will also test your ability to follow directions. Carefully read everything (including the sample pages I have provided on my web page). Budget in time for mistakes.
  • Make sure you have cleared your schedule for cybersaturday.

September 15, 2003 - I'm bugging out of town. On September 22 your enzyme lab quiz and biochemistry test will become active on BlackBoard. I'm traveling to San Antonio to give a presentation at the National Urban Forest Conference. I hope to have internet access, but you never know how things will hook-up until you actually attempt to hook-up. If I'm wired, I'll respond to your e-mails and Blackboard postings throughout the week. (P.S. If Virginia Tech spanks Texas A&M on Thursday night, they might arrest me!).

September 11, 2003 - Buggers! I have to attend a workshop in Lynchburg (8AM - 5PM) on Friday. I'll be able to return e-mails Friday evening.

September 3, 2003 - I'm out of the office Thursday. Will respond to BlackBoard posts and e-mail Thursday evening. Will respond to phone calls (reluctantly) on Friday.

August 29, 2003 - Heading into the weekend.... wondering where you should be in the course: Here are some suggestions:

  • Taking your investigation quizzes. There are three of them and all are active on BlackBoard. One will actually expire this evening (see your schedule for dates of availability).
  • Preparing for your first test (see dates of availability on your schedule).
  • Check in on our BlackBoard Discussion Board to see what's shaking.
  • Sound good?

August 25, 2003 - Are we all settled in? Good. Wondering where you should be in the course? Good. Can you hear me now? Good. Seriously, here's where your should be:

  • You should have taken the practice quiz on BlackBoard.
  • You should of posted a "Howdy" announcement on our discussion board on BlackBoard.
  • You should have planned your trip to DC to visit the Natural History Museum to perform the investigation (of the same name... see schedule and click link for details).
  • You should be in the middle of listening (and answering the assigned questions) to all of those CD lectures pertaining to evolution.
  • You should be working on those other investigations and preparing to take the appropriate quiz.
  • You should be asking yourself... why did I sign up for this Internet course?
  • Give me a holler if you have any questions - I would prefer the question be posted on our Discussion board on BlackBoard so everyone can benefit from the answer. But remember, always feel free to e-mail with any questions that are of a more personal nature.

August 10, 2003 - You're early! Here's a Welcome letter that should reach you via e-mail (assuming you live at the address you provided the college).
