Cyberbiology Announcements

Return to Cyberbiology
New Announcements:

November 28, 2005 - Your grades have been updated. Click on the "grade page" (link on our homepage) to see how you're doing as of today. Note, just about everyone dropped down a point or two... looks like photosynthesis and respiration wasn't a crowd favorite this semester. Extra credit (if earned) will be added after the deadline for the last test.

November 9, 2005 - I will be out of town from Thursday afternoon until Saturday evening. I'll be able to respond to e-mails and BlackBoard postings late Saturday evening or Sunday morning.

November 4, 2005 - Two Announcements:

  • Remember all of the hassle you went through to sign-up for on-line biology? If you're going to take the second semester make sure you jump through those hoops again! I think sign-in starts at midnight Sunday evening... but it's up to you to confirm that. Also, I believe there has been some changes to the default SIS password (i.e. your birthdate). If you haven't done so, you'll need to change that password. Instructions for doing this can be found on the BRCC web page.
  • Extra credit opportunity! See link back on our homepage.

November 2, 2005 - Test #3 is up and available on BlackBoard along with the LeafLab. Check the deadlines and act appropriately :-)

October 26, 2005 - Midterm exams have been graded and you're interim grades have been updated to reflect all of the tests and quizzes that you have taken so far. Go to the "grade" page. I'm still working on an extra-credit assignment (should have something ready by early November).

October 4, 2005 - Your grades have been posted on the "grade" page. (click on the link to the left or the link on our homepage)  Once you arrive at the grade page, follow the instructions to go to your own private grade page. Any problems? Read the directions one more time. If that doesn't work, e-mail me :-)   [Note: nothing has been dropped on this first posting. The next time I post your grades (after the midterm) I will drop the lowest test and lowest investigation score]

September 27, 2005 - Well, things are pretty quite on Blackboard. Things going o.k.? You have two assessments posted: Enzyme Quiz and Test #2. Keep up with the due dates posted on our schedule page. Oh yes, and don't forget.... our cybersaturday lab/midterm day is rapidly approaching. I have a link (from the schedule page) that will provide more information about what you can expect on that day. I may be updating it shortly.

September 20, 2005 - Two quick announcements:

  • Today is the deadline for your first test and one of the quizzes. Keep up with your lecture schedule.
  • I'll be out of town Wednesday through Saturday. I'll be able to respond to e-mails and BlackBoard postings Saturday evening.

August 30, 2005 - How are we doing? Haven't heard much on the discussion board. Give a holler with your questions. Check your lecture schedule page to make sure you're in right place (i.e. listening to CDs and performing the investigations).

  • Is James Brown out there? If so, please take the practice quiz right away (on BlackBoard) so I know that you're enrolled and can access BlackBoard.

August 26, 2005 - Well... how did that first week go? Many of you have already taken all three quizzes for the first unit (Evolution). Good job! I still need to hear from the rest of you. If you haven't done so, please enter BlackBoard and say Howdy on the discussion board and then take the practice quiz. Next, load those CDs onto your computer, print out the assigned questions from the lecture schedule page, and let the learning begin!

August 22, 2005 - Now for the official... Welcome to Cyberbiology! Four quick announcements:

  • Please read the welcome letter (if you haven't already done so; link below). Please read the syllabus, schedule, FAQ page, and everything else linked from the homepage.
  • If you haven't done so, please get on over to BlackBoard (link below) and say howdy to your classmates and take the practice quiz. This will be the place where you ask questions (so that everyone can benefit from the answer).
  • Purchase, open, and begin listening to those biology lectures on the Thinkwell CDs. As you listen answer the questions that go along with each lecture from the schedule page.
  • I just returned from the Natural History museum and have made some updates to the assigned questions/directions for this activity. The changes are not substantial - I only clarified some things and made it a little bit easier for the user to get around the museum. The questions are still the same.

August 19, 2005 - Y'all should have the cyberbiology BlackBoard link active on your BlackBoard account. Come into BlackBoard and say "howdy" to your classmates (we already have a string of "howdies" started) and take the practice quiz.

August 16, 2005 - Soon... the BlackBoard administrator will add your names to the Blackboard web site and you'll be able to access the discussion board (to introduce yourself to your classmates) and take your first quiz. Relax, your first quiz is a practice quiz. Please tackle these two introductory assignments as soon as possible. I'm hoping your names will be activated (i.e. you'll be able to access BlackBoard) by Friday.

August 15, 2005 - You did receive your Welcome Letter.... didn't you? If not, here's a link to it: Fall 2005 Welcome Letter!

August 3, 2005 - Fall Cyberbiology students - check back at the end of next week and I'll have some announcements for you. (I'm going to be out of town between now and next next Friday).
