New Announcements:

November 20, 2006 - It's never too early to think about your final exam. There is a link at the bottom of your schedule page with important information about your final exam (who, what, where, how....). I added one bit of information this morning - a reminder for you to bring a photo ID with you to the Learning Assistance Center.

November 15, 2006 - I will be out of town Thursday afternoon and Friday morning (11/16 - 11/17).

November 14, 2006 - Your extra credit opportunity is up and running - see the link from your home page.

November 8, 2006 - I'm heading out of town for a mandatory Virginia Community College meeting for all biology teachers on Thursday & Friday. I'm not sure about my Internet access during this time... so please be patient for the next few days in case you send me an e-mail.

October 31, 2006 - I'm out of town for the next few days. Not sure about my Internet connectivity. I'll try and respond to e-mails and BlackBoard postings in the evenings.

October 25, 2006 - The interims will be mailed (in the envelopes you self-addressed) this afternoon. I will be slipping out of town this afternoon and most of tomorrow.

October 14, 2006 - I will be out of town from Sunday through Wednesday. I'm going to be in West Virginia but I still think I'll be able to access the Internet each evening to respond to e-mails and BlackBoard postings. You should be getting prepared for the all day Saturday lab and the midterm. Click on the cybersaturday link from your schedule page for additional information.

September 20, 2006 - Well... are we all settled in? By now you should have completed your first unit and at least the first week of your second unit (Biochemistry). If you haven't done so, get an early start on your first online lab Enzymes. You will be performing a number of these activities in the course so take your time, read the instructions, and plan for the activity to last an hour or so.

August 30, 2006 - Two things:

  1. Your first "real" quizzes have been posted on BlackBoard. Be sure to take them well before the deadlines posted on your schedule page.
  2. I have to turn in an attendance form to the admissions office. This means I'll be marking you absent if you haven't logged onto BlackBoard and at least taken the practice quiz and/or said Howdy on our BlackBoard discussion board.

August 23, 2006 - Welcome aboard everyone! Here's where you should be at this time....

  • you should have thoroughly explored the cyberbiology web site
    • especially the syllabus, schedule, and FAQ
  • you should have logged onto BlackBoard in order to
    • say howdy to your classmates and
    • taken the practice quiz
    • read EVERYONE's post... there are a lot of good question & answers already posted
  • you should be listening to the Thinkwell CDs and answering my assigned questions (I use the word "assign" loosely... you don't turn in your completed questions, rather, you keep them for your notes in order to study for the next test).
  • you should have some travel plans to visit the Natural History museum to complete the investigation (see link from the schedule page)... I'm heading up there this afternoon and staying all day Thursday (whoopie!).  If you can't make it don't panic, I drop the lowest quiz grade (in your case, the Natural History museum quiz grade).
  • PLEASE NOTE! I'm heading out of town for the rest of the week (and weekend). I'm not sure if I'll have Internet access (other than what I get on my PDA in the occasional coffee shop). I'm thinking I'll be able to respond to postings on BlackBoard and my e-email before I'll be in a position to access the necessary software to post another announcement on this page.

August 18, 2006 - Here we go! BlackBoard is available for you to log on, take your practice quiz, and say howdy to your classmates. Please note: I will be out of town on Monday (day). I will be responding to your questions on our BlackBoard discussion board Monday evening.
