New Announcements:

May 6, 2004 - Your final grades are now posted! Grade Page

May 5, 2004 - Ditto on the previous announcement. Now I have found several other bogus questions (thanks to some prompt e-mails from y'all). The maximum point will now be reduced by 3. So I'll be taking the amount you had correct and dividing it by 59.

May 3, 2004 - Nuts! Apparently one question from one pool is flawed. This question doesn't have a correct answer selected. I'm unable to go into the pool to fix until after the exam is over. No one will be punished for this question. I'll adjust your scores or lower the maximum potential points.

April 25, 2004 - Well, this semester is about over. Two things:

  • Please go to BlackBoard and complete the on-line course evaluation before the course is over. In fact, go ahead and complete it now. It will only take a few minutes. I will only know if you have completed the evaluation. I will not know who said what, ever (I love that feature of BlackBoard generated evaluations). Please complete it.... or I'll hound you and withhold your grade and do other terrible things to you! (I probably shouldn't have used that last sentence to encourage you to complete my evaluation ;-)
  • Your final exam will be on BlackBoard. Go to the schedule page and click on the link for more information. Also, check BlackBoard discussion for recent student questions.

April 21, 2004 - Will be out of town Friday. Get those questions into me by Thursday evening... otherwise, I'll respond to e-mails Sunday evening.

April 15, 2004 - Will be out of town Friday (judging a tree climbing competition in Maryland). Will respond to e-mails Sunday morning. Will respond to phone calls Monday afternoon.

April 13, 2004 - Whoops! There was an error in your grades!!!! (Instead of telling the software to drop your lowest test grade... I told it to drop your exam average or lecture average.) I have re-calculated the grades and posted them in the usual location (see March 9 announcement for link).

April 12, 2004 - Your updated grades have been posted! (See announcement from March 9 for the link to the grade page)

April 6, 2004 - Will be out of town today and Wednesday. Doubtful that I'll be in a place with Internet access. I'll return e-mails and correspondence very late Wednesday evening.

March 30, 2004 - The much anticipated extra credit page is now available.

March 9, 2004 - Your interims have been posted. Go to the grade page and follow the instructions. Note: I have not dropped any grades for your first interim.

February 19, 2004 - I will be out of the office tomorrow (Friday) morning and early afternoon. Probably best to post questions on blackboard or e-mail me.

February 16, 2004 - I know what you will be doing from 9:00 AM to mid-/late-afternoon on February 28, 2004. Click on the mandatory Saturday lab link and get started with your preparation.

January 21, 2004 - Everybody settled-in and listening to their lectures? Here is where you should be at this point in time:

  • you should of already taken the practice quiz on BlackBoard
    • this demonstrates to me that you can access BlackBoard and that your account is active
  • performing those on-line laboratory exercises
  • preparing to take your first quiz (on BlackBoard) which includes information from the Fly Lab and the Pedigree Lab
    • Good news! This quiz (and this quiz only) is open notes. The default rule for taking tests and quizzes in this course, and in life, is that you are not allowed to use your notes. Occasionally, I will make an exception to this rule for quizzes. Assume nothing. You may only use your notes when I say it is open notes.
  • listening to those lectures (CDs) and answering the assigned questions
  • recording the dates your tests and quizzes become available on your personal calendar, aggenda, dayminder... whatever.
  • telling everyone you know and work with not to bother you on February 28, 2004.

January 13, 2004 - I need for everyone to do something for me ASAP. Please go to BlackBoard and take the practice quiz. This will show me that you know how to access and submit a quiz.

January 11, 2004 - Welcome! Please go to BlackBoard and say introduce yourself to the class on our discussion board. If you're new to the course, go back to the main page and click (and read) the FAQ page, schedule, and syllabus. Keep checking the discussion board for questions and answers. Especially at the beginning of the course.

December 29, 2003 - Welcome! You're early. I'm still putting everything together for the course. Go ahead and click on the FAQ, schedule, and syllabus to get feel for the course.
