New Announcements:

July 31, 2003 - Your final grades have been posted. Head on over to the grade page.

July 29, 2003 - I'm participating in a research project today (and maybe tomorrow) in Waynesboro. I'll check my e-mail this evening.

July 25, 2003 - I'm on campus today. As long as the weather holds, I'll be out in the tree planting research plot (west of the tennis courts) working. Just look for the old gray Ford pick-up.

July 22, 2003 - Your grades have been updated and posted. Go to the grade page.

July 12, 2003 - Four announcements:

  • Here are your tree assignments (for the tree identification investigation). I'll walk y'all out into the arboretum on Saturday and introduce you to your tree. Oh yes... and I've included a map on this page to help you pinpoint the location of your tree. Remember, the trees that I have assigned have bright orange ribbons with your number written on them. Give me an e-mail for more directions if you're still unable to find it.
  • Four of you were assigned pine trees. I forgot to mention that a number of the questions on the worksheet don't apply to you (i.e. leaf characteristics and lenticels. Questions? E-mail me.)
  • Midterms are graded! Grades have been updated Click here.
  • I'm going through a basic crime prevention course next week. I'll be in the building located next to the Weyers Cave Campus. I plan on popping into my office during breaks and lunch to catch up on e-mails and phone calls. Let us have an electronic connection next week.

July 11, 2003 - Well.... The lab is filling up with all kinds of stuff for us tomorrow. Please be prompt and show up no later than 9:00 AM. On another note, tonight marks the deadline for your Population Genetics & Evolution Investigation Quiz & Test. Come on procrastinators! Finish these so I can tabulate your midterm grades.

July 9, 2003 - I hope you're preparing for your lab this Saturday. Have you clicked on the worksheets? You won't be turning them in to me - they're study guides. Get on these as soon as possible! Under histology you will find links to two worksheets with many terms you will need to identify. A link has been provided back to one of your lectures with some very useful links to other websites that provide images of these structures/terms.

July 8, 2003 - Go over all of that lab stuff (see link for CyberSaturday/Midterm on your schedule) and e-mail me with questions as soon as possible.

July 3, 2003 - Time to make those plans to complete your field studies (urban forestry, behavior, tree identification (BRCC Arboretum), and Sherando). Here's a copy of the permission letter I'm sending to the Sherando Lake Recreation Area Superintendent. Not a bad idea to print it out and bring it along (with all of that other stuff you're to print out and take along).

July 1, 2003 - I will be buggin' off campus early today (around 10:45 AM) today to give a presentation to a garden club in Waynesboro (honestly, the things I'll do for a free lunch). Post those general questions on BlackBoard or e-mail me and I'll get back to you later this afternoon.

  • Wednesday. I'm on campus Wednesday (I have a couple of meetings; I'll post my locations on my door.)
  • Thursday. I'll be donating some time (pruning a tree) for the city of Staunton in the morning. I hope to make it to campus before noon.

June 30, 2003 - Nothing new to announce today. This week I'm going to begin contacting the supervisor of Sherando Lake Recreation Area and secure permission for us to perform our field study around the lake without having to pay the entry fee into the park. I'm also going to identify some trees in the arboretum and tag them for you to identify.

June 27, 2003 - Hey! Where is everyone. Only a few folks have logged onto our discussion board (on BlackBoard) and said Howdy. I want to hear from everyone. Thanks to all of those folks that have taken the practice quiz. Only about 8 folks still need to do that.

June 25, 2003 - Welcome to the second semester of Cyberbiology. You have signed-up for an entire semester of General Biology... crammed into five weeks! Yes, it will be tough.

  • If you're new... to the course you should probably read this welcome letter that I sent to the students last semester - Welcome letter.
  • If you're new... take some time to explore my web page and pay particular attention to your schedule. This is where you will find links to notes and information about upcoming tests and quizzes (i.e. dates). All of these tests and quizzes will be available for your enjoyment on BlackBoard. I think it's very important to get over there (BlackBoard) as soon as you can and take my Practice Quiz and to log onto the discussion board (Ask Mr. Murray) and say howdy so I know you're in the course. Please do those two things for me (Practice Quiz and Ask Mr. Murray) as soon as possible.
  • If you're old... er, uhm, seasoned... go ahead and do the above.

June 25, 2003 - Last announcement for the first semester students... You're final grades are posted. Go to the grade page... you know the routine.
