Osage Orange (Maclura pomifera)
Also called Hedge Apple
Description
- Ultimate height and width - Can easily reach 40 feet in height and width.
- Foliage - Medium to dark green with a glossy covering.
- Trunk/branch/trunk characteristics - Has short spines located along the
stem where buds or leaves are attached.
- Flower/fruit - Fruit consists of a large green ball sometimes called
"monkey brains."
CPTED Properties:
- Access Control - Good for making up large hedgerows. Not really
suitable for installing in areas where it will be highly visible.
