BLUE RIDGE COMMUNITY COLLEGE

INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS STUDY ABROAD

DRUG AND ALCOHOL ABUSE POLICY

Blue Ridge Community College takes a zero tolerance stand towards the possession of drugs of any kind by any individual participating in a BRCC Study Abroad Program or short-term trip. Possession of drugs, other than prescriptions contained in their original packaging with identifying information, or drug paraphernalia will result in the termination of participation in the program and will require that the individual be sent home at no expense to the college. If a student has received a scholarship award for the trip, the individual will be required to repay Blue Ridge Community College for all funds disbursed towards payment of the study abroad program or trip. In addition, the individual will also be required to repay the tuition fees paid by the college as part of the study abroad scholarship. A grade of "F" will be given for the study abroad course.

As a visitor to another country, you are subject to the laws of that country. Individuals who use, purchase or attempt to purchase drugs or frequent establishments where drug activities occur, risk arrest, conviction and punishment in court systems that may not resemble the American justice system.

I have read the above drug policy and I understand Blue Ridge Community College’s zero tolerance of drug possession or usage while participating in a study abroad program or short term trip. I also understand the consequences of engaging in such behavior.
