How to get the accent marks and special characters for Spanish
First method
1. Open Microsoft Word and a
new document
2. On the tool bar, click on Tools
3. Click on set language and scroll down to various versions of Spanish. It does
not matter which you choose, but click one.
4. Return to your document
5. Click the insert button and click on symbol. Numerous symbols will come up,
find the Latin or Latin extended. Within that set you should find all the
characters and accents you need. click on the one you want, insert, then close,
and it shows in your document.
6. You will notice that each special character will have the information for
alternate keys or short cuts. Write those down. I use this first method for the
n with the tilde, and I use the second method for the accents.
Second method
1. While you are in your document, press control, apostrophe and then the vowel and that will give you the accents on vowels.
Third method
Use alt and the number keyboard:
alt 130= e with accent
alt 160 = a with accent
alt 161= i with accent
alt 162 = o with accent
alt 163= u with accent
alt 164 =small n with tilde
alt 165 = capital N with tilde
alt168 = the upside down question mark
alt173 = the upside down exclamation point
alt174 = the Spanish quote marks <<
alt 175= the closing quote marks >>
After you have used either of these methods you then save your document and copy it into your email message. As far as I know, that is the only way possible to get accents into the email message. 9/14/05
